Comfort and cleanliness start from the ground up. A duckboard walkway (in Finnish, ritilä) provides a beautiful, slip-resistant surface that feels warm and comfortable underfoot. It keeps your feet off the main floor of your home and is easily removable for cleaning.
A duckboard walkway comes standard with each sauna kit. Duckboards sit on the floor of the sauna and are walked on.
Duckboards usually are built in the primary wood species of the sauna.
An additional duckboard can be purchased for outside of the sauna (entryway, etc).
For a truly seamless and professional look, consider adding a skirt to the upper bench.

Before we arrive with your Euro Sauna, have these basics locked in:
Create a solid, level base. Choose poured concrete, patio pavers, a pressure-treated deck, or 6-8 in. of compacted Class 5 gravel. The surface must be flat and square—any tilt can twist the frame and make doors stick.
Run or have a plan for 240 volt power. If you’re choosing an electric heater, schedule a licensed electrician to pull a dedicated 240-V, X-amp line (breaker size depends on heater kW). Pulling high-voltage power can be done after the sauna is installed.
Check access and clearances. We need at least 94″ of vertical clearance and a clear path from the street or driveway to the pad.
Think drainage and snow load. Slope the ground around the pad ¼ in. per foot to direct water away. In heavy-snow zones, confirm your base can handle 70 psf or more.
With these four items squared away, installation is a single-day job (professionally done) and your first löyly is coming soon.

Yes. You’ll need basic tools: drill, level, hammer, saw, nail gun. Two adults can complete assembly in 1-2 days following the instructions. The hardest part is usually the electrical connection, which requires a licensed electrician. We also offer professional installation if you prefer—typically completed in one day.
It operates on 208V or 240V depending on your model.
The exterior tongue-and-groove requires painting or staining immediately after installation and every 2-3 years thereafter—similar to any outdoor wood structure. The sloped roof is virtually maintenance-free, shedding snow and rain naturally. Interior maintenance is minimal—just periodic cleaning like any indoor sauna.
