Sauna Plans

How To Layout A Sauna

The design of your sauna begins by coming up with plans for your room. There are a number of factors that will affect the design of your sauna, all of which will be covered in depth below.

The main things to consider when laying out a sauna:

  1. Number of people the sauna will be built for
  2. Sauna bench design
  3. Ceiling height
  4. Heater size
  5. Existing space
  6. Sauna door size and placement
  7. Hinge direction of the sauna door

4×4 Sauna Plans

For 1-2 people, the smallest sauna we recommend building is a 4×4 sauna. It’ll give you a floor footprint of 16 square feet and is the recommended size for a sauna built for a single person.

While you can fit two people in a sauna of this size, it’s generally better to build your sauna a little wider to accommodate two people. Adding even an extra foot to the width of your sauna can make a big difference in the comfort of your sauna.
