Like every great hobby, building your dream sauna doesn’t end with the sauna itself. While many sauna owners spend years enjoying their sauna without any additional accessories, there are certain things that can drastically enhance your sauna experience.
For me, growing up taking wood fired sauna’s at our family cabin in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, the one sauna accessory that changed everything was Tar sauna scent. While it’s certainly not for everyone (my wife cannot stand the smell, it’s to “smoky”, she says), adding scent to your sauna bucket is one sure fire way to guarantee a perfect sauna aroma every time you step in the sauna.
The Sauna Accessories Every Sauna Owner Needs To Own
These are the sauna accessories that every sauna owner needs to own. Sure, you can take sauna without them, but a few extra bucks spent on upgrading the experience goes a long way in enjoying your new sauna.
A Sauna Bucket and Ladle
If you own an electric or wood fired steam sauna, you must own a bucket and ladle. While any old bucket from around the house will work, there’s something about owning an upgraded sauna bucket and traditional ladle that adds to the experience of tossing steam on the sauna stove.
Sauna Scents
Think your new sauna smells good already? Wait until you add sauna scent specifically for saunas to your water pail. The aroma created from a sauna scent is one of the best parts about taking sauna. You can use essential oils in your sauna, or scent bottles for saunas themselves.
Sauna Thermometer
Sauna thermometers are not only practical, they’re a great way to track your progress as your ability to take hotter saunas increases. On top of that, if you took your first 200 degree sauna and didn’t tell all your friends about it, did you really get there? Every sauna owner needs to own a sauna thermometer.
